Earlier today, 2nd September 2026, His Worship the Mayor, Cllr Siphile Mdaka, received the leadership of Africa for Jesus Ministries in Hluhluwe Disaster Centre.
The purpose of the courtesy visit was to formally introduce the ministry to the political leadership of the Municipality and to deliberate on collaborative programmes aimed at community development.
The delegation outlined that their mandate is centred on spiritual and economic empowerment of communities, with a particular emphasis on agricultural development as a tool to fight poverty and create sustainable livelihoods.
Furthermore, the ministry announced its intention to host a massive spiritual congregation within the jurisdiction of UMkhanyakude District Municipality. The delegation indicated that they have a proven track record, having successfully hosted a similar large scale congregation in the Zululand District Municipality.
Mayor Mdaka has welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation for faith based organizations that complement government's efforts in uplifting communities both spiritually and socio-economically.
