UMKHANYAKUDE District Municipality has urged all contractors who did not complete water projects owing to financial constraints, to return to their sites to finish their work.
Spokesman Mdu Dlamini said the municipality is now ready to meet all its financial obligations after the KZN government lifted a section 139 (b) ruling against the municipality.
Section 139 (b) allows the Cogta MEC to place a municipality under administration if it fails to meet its financial obligations.
‘Our district municipality has been under administration for almost two years. ‘When the current administration, led by Mayor Solomon Mkhombo, took over in 2016 it was discovered that uMkhanyakude was in financial crisis.
‘But they worked tirelessly to bring the situation back to normal.
